1. Pyramids of Giza

Pyramids of Giza

If we were asked a synonym for the word ‘Egypt’, we’d say ‘Pyramids’. Won’t you do the same? If not for the pyramids, Egypt would, probably, not have the name and fame that it has today. Out of all the places in Egypt, the best one is Giza. This ancient city is home to numerous pyramids where Pharaohs, the rulers of ancient Egypt, were mummified. These superb structures will surely leave you speechless when you gaze at them. It always makes us wonder how the Egyptians must have erected these pyramids and conserved them, with no modern technology backing them!

2. Great Sphinx of Giza

If the pyramids make us wonder, the Great Sphinx makes us go numb. How was it possible for the Egyptians to carve out a Sphinx that is 241 feet long, 20 feet wide and 66 feet high! Were the Egyptians endowed with some mythical powers? We wonder. Did you know ladies, the Great Sphinx is held as the world’s largest monolith statue? If you like to visit such wonders created by man, then the Great Sphinx of Giza is a must visit for you.

3. Abu Simbel

Egypt is not just about pyramids but also about stately temples and archaic edifices. Abu Simbel is one place that you should not miss if you wish to explore the glorious past of the Egyptians. This site is where you’d find two temples built by Pharaoh Ramesses II some 3 millenniums ago. The emperor had originally carved out these temples, dedicated to Egyptian Gods, from a huge sandstone cliff near the Nile river. However, they had to be relocated due to the construction of a dam on the site. Hence, these magnificent temples were meticulously relocated to Abu Simbel. When you stand before these carvings, you will realize the loftiness of ancient Egypt’s culture, thoughts and art.

4. Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is another intriguing site in Egypt. This is the place where the Pharaohs of Egypt were buried, nearly 500 years ago. It is home to several tombs and treasures. These tombs reveal the opulence and exotic lifestyle that the Pharaoh’s led then. The most popular among all the mummies, the mummy of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, can be found here.
