Longleat Safari Park, Wiltshire   One of England's top wildlife attractions. Driving through the monkey enclosure is always a joy. See giraffe, lion, tigers, rhinos and more. Whilst you're there, visit Longleat House and Longleat Adventure Park.

Dartmoor Zoological Park, Devon   On the southern fringe of Dartmoor National Park and the subject of the book 'We Bought a Zoo'. Great place. Afterwards, walk on the moors or head to a South Devon beach.

Paignton Zoo, Devon     English Riviera zoo. Huge range of animals and always busy. In the local area, visit Living Coasts and The Golden Hinde (Devon), Kents Cavern and Babbacombe Model Village.

Exmoor Zoo, Devon   On the fringe of Exmoor National Park and close to the mighty sand beaches of the North Devon AONB. Wonderful mix of big and small animals.

Abbotsbury Swannery, Dorset   Dorset swannery close to Chesil Beach. Monks used to farm swans here. Today, it's a unique experience to walk through a colony of nesting Mute Swans.

National Lobster Hatchery, Cornwall     In Padstow on the River Camel and Estuary close to the Cornwall coast.

National Marine Aquarium, Devon     Superb attraction in Plymouth. The largest aquarium in the UK, there's a room with a huge and impressive tank the size of a cinema screen. Amazing place.

Dartmoor Hill Ponies, Devon     Wild ponies in Dartmoor National Park. Difficult to say for certain where they'll be but it's rare you won't see one on a holiday or weekend break to the Park.
