Arguably the UK's finest castle ruin. Dominates the village of Corfe Castle within the Isle of Purbeck. This part of Dorset is a wonderful spot for a holiday or weekend break. Swanage is just down the road.

Idyllic location with views across Falmouth Bay to Pendennis Castle. The small coastal town of St. Mawes is a joy. We'd also suggest walking the South West Coast Path to St Anthony Head Lighthouse.

The last castle to be built in England. One of the members of the team here at PictureTheUK lived by the castle for years so we know the area well. Walk the Teign Gorge and visit Chagford.

Internationally famous castle and where King Arthur is said to have been conceived. The setting, again, is stunning on the Cornwall coast. Walk the South West Coast Path, Start (or End) north to Boscastle.

Most well known for its appearance in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, the casdtle provides top views across the Vale of Wardour.
