Top 10 Recommended Beaches in South West England

Top 10 Recommended Beaches in South West England

Beaches in South West England

South West England is noted for its beaches and coastline. Follow the 630 mile
South West Coast Path and you'll walk behind, or across, some absolute beauties. We've walked and photographed most of that coastline and, as a result of that research, here are our 'Top 10 Recommended Beaches in South West England'. Alternatively, search 'South West England beaches' to discover more.

It's our favourite beach in South West England. Part of Whitesand Bay. Sennen is to the south of the bay, Gwenver Beach to the north. In the local area, try Porthcurno Beach and the beaches lining St Ives Bay.

Big sand beach by Bigbury-on-Sea, Bigbury-on-Sea Beach and Burgh Island in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Great walking here along the South West Coast Path.

Glorious sand beach running along the side of the Camel Estuary. Padstow across the water as are other beautiful sand beaches such as Harbour Cove and Hawker's Cove Beach. Explore the amazing beaches around Trevose Head, too.

Sweeping sand and pebble beach beneath dramatic red rock cliffs. Popular with families. Sidmouth is a great base for an East Devon holiday. Weston Mouth Beach is a cracker, too.

One of Devon's finest beaches, in our opinion. Vast sand beach running into Woolacombe Sand and various smaller beaches north of that. See our North Devon AONB guide for more ideas.

Blackpool Sands

Perfect arc of shingle beach just south of The English Riviera. Privately owned so you have to pay for access but well worth the money. Dartmouth to the north and Torcross to the south.

Perran Beach

Perran Beach, Cornwall

Massive blond sand beach running from Perranporth north to Ligger Point. Stunning place. Newquay to the north east.

Swanage Beach

Exceptionally popular attraction on the Isle of Purbeck within the Dorset AONB. Click the link and check out our 'Top 10 Recommended Beaches in the Dorset AONB' for more ideas.

Part of Dorset's Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. 29km (18m) of shingle beach that'll build up your calf muscles!

We could have chosen any of the beaches which make up St Ives Bay frankly. This one is at the northern end of the bay and is popular with surfers. Sublime.
